03 / DELAY CALCULATOR
Put the space
between the notes.
Turn a quarter-note tempo into straight, dotted and triplet durations. Milliseconds for your effects. Hertz for a repeating cycle.
Your session tempo
20–300 BPM. If your score uses a different beat unit, convert it first.

AN OPTIONAL STARTING POINT
A reverb time budget
Subtract pre-delay from a note length. A useful audition point, not a prediction of a real reverb tail or room acoustics.
THREE WAYS TO DIVIDE TIME
A dot is not
a triplet.
At 120 BPM, a straight eighth lasts 250 ms. Add a dot and it becomes 375 ms. Make it a triplet eighth and it becomes about 166.67 ms. Three triplet eighths fit into one quarter-note beat.
Hz here means the rate of a repeated rhythmic cycle, not a musical pitch. Listen in your session: a calculated duration is a grid reference, not an ideal mix setting.
